Just drove past D&J's at 7:00am this morning and saw the cross country team getting on the bus for Espanola. Why does our school produce the toughest athletes???? Could it be because the typical trip involves waking up a 5:30am, driving for 3 hours, warming up and competing (and usually performing near the top), driving for another 3 hours, getting home somewhere between 10:00 and 11:30 at night, waking up the next morning again between 6:30 and 7:00 just to make the school bus to get to school to make up homework and practice again? Ya, it could have something to do with that. Good luck team, we're proud of you already.
The team leaves tomorrow for Espanola to compete at the Pre-NSSSA cross country running meet. We will be taking 20 athletes to test ourselves for the NSSSA competition next week. Good luck!
