So I've been working at the Olympic Welcome Centre after finally being told that this is my actual job. I help take the luggage off the Athlete's bus and transport it to security. When there is no bus on the way, I get to chill and watch some TV in the "break room".
Another thing to keep us busy when there is no one to help is to look through this binder and find out interest facts about countries. So here are some that I found strange: In Cyprus, it is a great insult to gesture someone with an open palm. Chile, they point with pucker lips in a direction rather than your index finger. In Australia, forming a "V" with index and middle finger, palm facing in is considered rude. Latvians avoid shaking hands across a doorway because it's impolite. In Greece, when they are smiling it doesn't mean they are happy, they could be also upset or angry. Lastly, Ukraine people avoid smiling at strangers because it viewed as flirtatious.
Here are some flags that the countries have been hanging outside of their residents even though the location of the athletes is supposed to be kept a secret. Can you guess which countries these flags are from?
