Today was our first day off so we slept in and then walked with Caray to her bus stop at 11:30am, and then went exploring. We met 2 of the 300 McDonald's employees that are working at the Athlete's Villages serving food. They were from Edmonton and along with free airfare, accommodation in Whistler Village, $60/day for food, an entertainment event of their choice (skiing, snowmachining, ziplining, etc.) on their day off, and getting paid for 6 hours of work while only working 4, they also got these snappy team outfits. We checked out the Aboriginal Cultural Centre a few blocks from our house and there was a farmer's market there today. We tried some "organic chocolate" made with love,
sprinkled with gogi berries, nuts, sesame seeds and coconut in a beautiful design and served on a heart-shaped paper. We also sampled pickled garlic, beets, and carrots, smoked salmon, and hummus.
We are fortunate to be staying with a CASS grad who has a great 2-bedroom condo just at the edge of Whistler Village. The view is amazing from the street where we catch the bus; we can see the Peak-to-Peak Gondola between the mountains!
View from Courtney's Place!
