The day started with wet, sloppy snow but the sun broke out when the Torch arrived at the Biathlon site today. The torch runner was a local BC Olympian field hockey goalie from the '92 Games in Barcelona She got to bring the torch onto the Biathlon track and hand off to a team of torch bearers who were a medical team from BC. After that excitement it was back to setting fences. The athletes were training today so it was a great chance to check out the field of competitors. The German team is favoured and were the first ones out on the range today.
After work we went into Whistler Village and joined in the Evening Celebration of the Torch Relay. Olympian skiier Steve Podborski skiied down the bottom of Blackcomb Mountain and handed off the Torch to a local 17 yr. old mountain biker and cross country skiier who is an Olympic hopeful for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. Today was Day 99 of 106 days of the Torch Relay.
