Let’s Dance!
Twenty selected Central Algoma Secondary School students will be kicking up their heels in Toronto as they attend the Pulse Dance Workshop being held May 12-16th, 2010. The Pulse Dance Workshop is organized through the Council of Ontario Drama and Dance and allows students in Northern Ontario exposure to many unique styles and expressions of dance that, without opportunities such as these, would probably not experience.
For the past three years dance has grown in the CASS community and the local area as a result of Alicia Orlando’s introduction of the school Dance Squad and Central Dance, which offers lessons in many forms of dance for ages 3- adult. Dance is not only physically beneficial to the body, but is also beneficial to the mind and spirit. For the twenty students selected to attend the workshop they will have six hours of professional instruction, attend two live dance performances, an arts film and an evening gala.
As part of their fundraising efforts, the students will be holding a Fashion Show at CASS on December 11, 2009, beginning at 7 p.m. Please come on out and support these dancers, as your contribution will be greatly appreciated and will help keep “Dance” growing at CASS! Tickets will $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors.
