Yesterday, 75 high school dance
students from CASS, White Pines, St. Basils and St. Mary's met
at the Kiwanis Theater Center for a Day of Dance.
The day consisted of 4 workshops given
by local dance and pilates instructors.
Matthew Caruso of Studio Dance Arts facilitated a contemporary
workshop. Tania Castellani of Studio Dance Arts taught the
students a Hip Hop number choreographed by Twitch of So You Think YOu
Can Dance. Lauren Kinney of Soo Dance
Unlimited created a step combo and Tiffany Hayward spoke to
the students about having a healthy body image.
CASS was particularly well represented at
the workshop. Our students persisted through the tough choreography
with positive attitudes and a winning spirit. Standout students of the
day were
Carli Clinton, Zack Levebre, Leila
Fournier-Harrison, Britanny Gallinger, Nicole M. and Victoria Swain.
Opal Bob'shard work and great attitude landed her the CASS award for
MVD.
Throughout the day many great messages
were conveyed.
You don't have to be the best; you just
have to give it your best!
It's Ok to be tired, just don't dance
tired
We should consider ourselves fortunate to
have not only the opportunity but also the ability to dance
Always be willing to try new things, you
never know when you'll stumble upon something you love
As we think, so shall we
be.
